Technical Details for Web Hosting

Hardware

Our servers are Pentium and Pentium Pro based machines with SCSI disk storage and DAT tape backup. They are connected on an Ethernet network. Most sites are on shared servers using virtual server technology. Dedicated servers are available for sites that require it.

Software

The servers all operate under Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Microsoft Internet Information Server 5.0. Secure Server, Microsoft SQL server 7.0, active server pages, FrontPage extensions and Microsoft NetShow are all available. On a dedicated server, a customer can set up whatever software they want so long as it is compatible with the TCP/IP over Ethernet network. There is also lots of flexibility on the shared servers. The primary concern, of course, is that customer software does not interrupt the smooth running of the server for other users.

Access

There are two ways to update your site: FTP and FrontPage extensions.
